Acupuncture combination techniques that must be used in treatment

I have found that an acupuncture combination of techniques with either moxibustion, cupping, Tui Na remedial massage, electro stimulation, or individualised Chinese herbal formulas gives better results. Patients improve much better and quicker. This thesis has been tested on thousands of patients, of both Asian and Western nationalities.

Remedial exercise programmes that focus on illness prevention and health protection are also recommended; for example, the Dao Yin Health Protection Healing Exercise. (A workbook and DVD is now available so if you'd like to know how to get a copy, please call us on +61 3 9796 2388 or use this form to contact us).

This is not to say that acupuncture is not effective on its own. There are a number of reasons why various techniques are combined with it. First, as a medical technique it has developed over the past 2,000 years to include these supplementary therapies. It is really a bonus for you to receive more than just one therapy in your session.

Second, the art and science of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is not just one technique. TCM is in fact a system of primary health care that includes acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, remedial massage (an mo tui na), exercise and breathing therapy such as Dao Yin, Chi Kung, Tai Chi, Kung Fu), and diet and lifestyle advice. In Australia and the West, the most popular forms of TCM health care are acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine.

Third, traditional Chinese medical doctors are so well-trained in a number of therapies nowadays and they are so good at choosing the most appropriate combination to get good results. Patients nowadays want quicker and better results.

And finally, the combination of various TCM techniques advantages both the doctor and the patient. The doctor is assured of achieving results in a reasonable period of time. Often relief can be immediate, or within one day. But with chronic and difficult cases, result may take a few sessions. Nevertheless, it is much better for the patient to get relief even if it takes a few sessions’ work, rather than putting up with other forms of treatment that do not help at all.

Acupuncture needles

Pier Tsui-Po uses very fine "once-only" Sterile Disposable stainless steel needles that are as thin as a strand of your hair. They are precisely inserted at certain points on the body. Once the very thin needle is in place, Pier works on the point to obtain specific results.

Pier works on the points to obtain the ‘Chi sensation’. This sensation is critical if we are to get results. The Chi is then skilfully influenced to achieve the desired results. This only takes a few seconds.

Depending on the severity of the condition and the patient, other areas of Chinese medical practice such as dieteray therapy, specific Dao Yin exercises, breathing or meditation therapy, or lifestyle and attitude changes may have to be included.

No-Needles Therapy: the Trimix Linus SSP machine, Silver Spike Point Needle Free Device

If you prefer to be treated without needles, a special machine called an SSP machine can be used. This latest technology is blended with Pier’s extensive knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine to create a new and effective way of treating a wide range of medical conditions and giving relief from most types of pain.

Needle free, this technique is particularly effective for sports related injury, work injury such as those suffered by labourers, gardeners or those who awkardly lift heavy things. The machine can also help with pain resulting from poor posture.

Intractable conditions that are chronic and not responding to other treatments have reported excellent results with this machine.

--- A single-blind, sham-controlled, preliminary study completed in 2007 at the Victoria University, Melbourne, Australia, showed that SSP Needle Free Device was therapeutically beneficial in the management of osteo-arthritis of the knee.

If you prefer to have this machine available for your session, you will need to inform us in advance when you make your appointment.
